Botti goes for more leverage

Botti Brown Asset Management is preparing to open a new leveraged market-neutral hedge fund in January. Botti Brown, a San Francisco firm founded by John Botti and Don Brown, already runs three market-neutral hedge funds.

Separately, Botti Brown has hired Bridget Watkin as chief financial officer. She formerly was a manager with accounting firm Rothstein, Kass.

The firm currently manages $1.4 billion of assets. The normally low-profile shop, drew headlines in 2000 and 2001 when Botti Brown was caught in a legal dispute with Titan Corporation, a case that was later dismissed.
