Schwartz leaves Soros as family takes over

An era at Soros Fund Management will come to an end on 1 January with the departure of Mark Schwartz, the former senior Goldman Sachs executive who joined Soros as chief executive in 2002.

In a letter to shareholders dated 17 December, founder and chairman George Soros wrote that Soros Fund Management would now be run by his two sons, Jonathan and Robert - who hold the title of co-deputy chairmen.

In addition, Robert took over the role of chief investment officer for the Quantum funds following the departure of Jacob Goldfield, a Schwartz hire, earlier this year.
