York makes compliance hire to prepare for SEC rules

Jamie Dinan's York Capital Management is beefing up its compliance area in preparation for registration with the SEC.

The $4.9 billion multi-strategy firm hired compliance specialist Mark Schein earlier this month, in the newly created role of senior compliance officer.

Schein had most recently been a director of anti-money laundering for Schwab Capital Markets and, prior to that, an attorney in the enforcement division of the New York Stock Exchange. At York, he will report to Adam Semler, who holds the dual roles of chief financial officer and chief compliance officer.
