George McCabe, a former research analyst at Peter Lynch's foundation, is getting ready to debut a small-cap equity fund. McCabe has set up Portolan Capital Management in Boston and is expected to launch before the end of the quarter. He expects to raise as much as $150 million.
The fund will focus on U.S. small-cap companies, but will have the flexibility to invest across all market capitalizations. It will have a long bias and use pair trades to short.
At the Lynch Foundation, McCabe was responsible for performing research and analysis on public and private companies and making portfolio
