JANA Partners has raised approximately $300 million for a new hedge fund. The firm, which is based in San Francisco, recently launched JANA Piranha, managed by founder Barry Rosenstein and partner Kevin Lynch. JANA Piranha focuses on small-cap and micro-cap companies within the U.S.
The firm's flagship value-oriented, event-driven investment strategy JANA Partners focuses on companies considering or implementing strategic change.
Rosenstein established the firm in April 2001. Prior to that, he founded private-equity firm Sagaponack Partners.
