Sandell recruits five to boost Castlerigg


In a move to build out the team managing its $4.4 billion Castlerigg fund, Sandell Asset Management has hired four experienced investment professionals and a chief compliance officer.

William Auslander and Jeffrey Alvino, formerly portfolio managers with Morgan Stanley's investment management division, where they ran $7 billion of growth-oriented portfolios, will concentrate on equity relative value in the consumer, industrial and financial sectors.

John Coates, who was formerly responsible for Omega Advisors' media and telecom portfolio, will also focus on long/short media and telecom investments at Sandell.
