Chilton taps Goerhring for natural resources fund


Chilton Investment Company this week bought onboard a new managing director, Leigh Goerhring, a natural-resources sector specialist who is expected to head up a new fund.

Goerhring's hire reflects a growing interest among hedge fund groups to tap the natural-resources sector, which has been booming thanks to a worldwide bulls' run in raw materials brought on by increasing demand from China's burgeoning industrial sector and spikes in energy prices.

Goerhring was previously the manager of the $1.4 billion Jennison Natural Resources fund, which saw a solid double-digit annualized return during his nearly decade-and-a-half tenure at that firm that ended
