Stamford, Connecticut-based global macro shop Vinya Capital is making moves to strengthen its investment team after some setbacks surrounding its launch in December 2004.
Principal Michael deSa made the decision to replace two administrative staffers with portfolio managers in the hopes of broadening the macro fund's investment mandate.
On May 1, the firm hired emerging markets specialist Bernardo Villela as a principal and portfolio manager.
Villela was a managing director at JPMorgan and was formerly the head of the Eastern Europe and emerging markets business for JPMorgan.
