HSBC this week made two major hires to strengthen its equity-sales operations that targets North American-based hedge funds.
Joining HSBC is Andrew Gross, whose title will be managing director and head of European and hedge fund equity sales. In his new post, Gross will focus on European-equity sales to managers based in the United States.
Gross, who was formerly with Lehman Brothers, will be joined at HSBC by Stephen Matthews, who will serve as senior member of the equity-sales team. Prior to joining UBS, Matthews was at Banc of America Securities.
