Carlson, Hunt veterans teaming up on energy fund

Christopher Floyd, formerly a partner and portfolio manager of nearly $850 million of energy-related investments at Clint Carlson's Carlson Capital, will soon launch his own energy fund.

Floyd is setting up his Dallas, Tex.-based Opsis Capital Management together with Keith Benedict, an attorney who was briefly chief financial officer at Stamford, Conn.-based Diamondback Capital Management and, before that, the chief operating officer of Hunt Financial Ventures, a hedge fund and fund-of-funds firm based in Dallas.

In their new venture, Floyd will serve as portfolio manager, assisted by analyst Ben Cook, who worked with him for five years at Carlson.
