Disney's Shamrock to spruce up L.A. hoods

Shamrock Capital Advisors, the multi-family office that runs in-house hedge funds and private equity vehicles for Walt Disney heir Roy E. Disney, last month launched a new venture aimed at boosting economic development and creating jobs in some of Los Angeles County's most blighted neighborhoods. Disney's group has put together some $100 million for a socially conscious but for-profit fund that will pour money into debt financing for commercial development in neighborhoods like Inglewood and South Central as well as industrial zones that have bled jobs as the region's manufacturing base has eroded.
