Everest, Brandywine shine in September


Some of the same plays that benefited equities - energy and Asia - contributed big gains in September for macro managers. Macro portfolios also had the chance to capitalize on the dollar's extended rally against the euro and a rise in gold prices (it hit $475 per ounce in mid-September). According to research by Absolute Return, the strategy led most others for the month, up 2.59% to total 5.87%. Everest Capital International had a killer month, up 11.4%, as did Brandywine Alliance Fund, which gained 10.46%. Peter Thiel's Clarium Capital Management also continued on its roll, gaining 7%
