Event-driven funds were hit hard in October as energy prices came down and stocks sold off. The Absolute Return Event-Driven index fell 1.89% for the month, shaving its year-to-date total to a mere 2.68%. Among the multistrategy funds, Timothy Barakett's Atticus Global was one of the worst hit: It fell 9.37% for the month to bring its year-to-date total to 13.46%.
