The scandal involving Azerbaijan oil, the "Pirate of Prague" and his American investors has taken another plot twist, as Omega Advisors plans to sue Clayton Lewis, a one-time Omega principal.
The suit follows federal prosecutors' recent disclosure that Lewis had pleaded guilty to bribing Azeri government officials in connection with the failed investment. Lewis faces up to 10 years in prison. At the same time, prosecutors indicted Viktor Kozeny, the Czech promoter who masterminded the investment, on similar charges.
"We are shocked, saddened and angered to learn of Lewis' guilty plea," Omega founder Leon Cooperman said in a letter
