Ramius founder joins board of defense contractor

L-3 Communications, the New York-based company that provides surveillance, intelligence-gathering and security systems to U.S. Government agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Defense, recently named Ramius Capital founder Peter Cohen to its board of directors. Cohen founded Ramius, which oversees $7.4 billion in assets, in 1994. Previously, Cohen was chief operating officer at Shearson Lehman Brothers. In addition to his governance post at L-3, Cohen serves as a director at the Mount Sinai-NYU Medical Center and is also a director at Scientific Games, a leading provider of technology for state lotteries.
