Vinik gives $10,000 to Mass. GOP

November's off-year election cycle was a light one in terms of political contributions by hedge fund managers, and most donations came in late. One of the largest gifts was from Jeff Vinik of Boston-based Vinik Asset Management, who contributed $10,000 to the Republican Committee of Massachusetts, according to filings with the Federal Election Commission. Other industry hedge fund bigwigs that made sizable campaign contributions included David Shaw of D. E. Shaw, who gave $25,000 to the Democratic National Committee. Meanwhile, Mark Dalton of Tudor Investment donated $25,000 to the DNC's GOP counterpart, the Republican National Committee.
