Report raises questions about Cerberus political donations


Cerberus Capital Management attempted to influence a key member of the House Appropriations Committee to pass funding in 2003 critical to its $140 million investment in MCI, according to an investigative report published on January 19 in USA Today.

According to USA Today, Cerberus executives provided $133,000 in direct contributions to a political action committee headed by Congressman Jerry Lewis (R-Ca.), now the chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, during and shortly after a fundraising dinner in New York on July 7, 2003.
