Industry mourns loss of Hunt Taylor


The hedge fund industry this week mourned the loss of one of its better known figures, 54-year-old Lawrence Hunt Taylor of Rye Brook, N.Y. Taylor was killed Sunday in a motorcycle accident in Arizona.

Taylor had been director and portfolio manager of Stern Investment Holdings, the asset- management wing of the Stern family office known as Hartz Group, where he oversaw some $1 billion in assets.

His rise to prominence in the alternative investment industry began in the 1990s when he went to work for Nicola Meaden's London-based TASS Investment Research, which was later acquired by Tremont Advisors.
