Rocker Partners, the short-biased hedge fund founded by David Rocker in 1985, is being renamed Copper River Partners, possibly as early as today. The name change follows the announcement last month that the 63-year-old Rocker is retiring and will be leaving the firm early next year.
Rocker Management, the management company, is similarly being rebranded as Copper River Management. Upon Rocker's retirement, his long-time co-managing partner, Marc Cohodes, who is also head of research and chief portfolio manager, will become the sole managing partner and the firm's biggest shareholder.
