Saleeby, Oprah to promote literacy


Derek Saleeby, a hedge fund manager for Washington D.C.-based RLJ Asset Management, recently took a short excursion away from money management to play diplomat to a foreign head of state and liaison to the entertainment industry. Saleeby set up a meeting between TV star Oprah Winfrey and Liberian President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, who appeared on Oprah's show in May to talk about efforts to expand child literacy in her African nation. Mind you, Saleeby's fund shop, seeded in part by the Carlyle Group, is well connected in entertainment circles. RLJ is chaired by Robert Johnson, founder of Black Entertainment
