Robin Hood benefit raises $48m


The Robin Hood foundation raised a record $48 million at its 17th annual benefit on Wednesday evening in New York. The nonprofit group, founded by Paul Tudor Jones II in 1988, targets poverty in New York City through partnerships with more than 140 organizations.

Robin Hood's board of directors reads like a who's who of New York's financial and media elite, from SAC Capital Advisors' Steven Cohen, Och-Ziff Capital Management Group's Daniel Och and Goldman Sachs's Lloyd Blankfein to the actress Gwyneth Paltrow and television anchors Tom Brokaw and Diane Sawyer.
