Tuckerbrook snags Commonfund distressed expert


Tuckerbrook Alternative Investments has hired Sumanta Banerjee from the Commonfund's distressed program to launch a new hedge fund. Banerjee joins the firm as a managing partner and portfolio manager.

His new fund, Tuckerbrook/SB Global Distressed strategy, will be a blended private and public portfolio, aiming to exploit the distressed market cycles of the U.S., Europe and Asia. It will have an eight-year lockup.

Banerjee spent several years focusing on the Commonfund's distressed debt program, where he led the investments as portfolio manager for Distressed Debt Partners II. Prior to joining Commonfund in 2002, Banerjee was a founding and senior member
