Deutsche Bank has recruited Mel Gunewardena, a former high-level Goldman Sachs executive, for a new position as head of global fixed-income prime brokerage.
Gunewardena, who ended a 12-year career at Goldman Sachs as managing director and global head of fixed-income derivatives prime brokerage, will report to Alan Cloete, a managing director and the head of global finance at Deutsche. Gunewardena joins Deutsche as a managing director.
In his new role, Gunewardena is leading internal efforts to develop fixed-income prime brokerage services that link Deutsche's hedge fund clients to the firm's fixed-income resources.
