JPMorgan duo launch tech fund


Jim Tarantino and Chris Galvin, who worked together at JPMorgan Chase and Hambrecht & Quist, have teamed up to launch a long/short equity fund focused primarily on the emerging growth technology sector.

San Francisco-based Westerly Capital Management will focus on opportunities created by mispricings and special situations in the small and midcap growth sectors, recent initial public offerings, follow-on stock offerings and turnaround situations.

From 1989 to 2003, Tarantino was head of equity trading at Hambrecht & Quist and its successor firms, Chase H&Q and JPMorgan Chase. During his tenure, Tarantino's responsibilities included membership on the operating and venture portfolio
