Dwight Anderson's Ospraie Management has hired risk guru Sam Won from Citigroup Alternative Investments to ramp up its risk management group. Won replaces Tristan Kim, Ospraie's former in-house risk manager, who left the New York firm in June.
The hire spearheads Ospraie's effort to put in place a large risk management team as the firm builds its hedge fund and private equity businesses. Won's arrival comes several months after Ospraie decided to shut down its concentrated $250 million Ospraie Point fund, which lost 29% in this year's first five months on misplaced commodities bets, particularly copper.
