Institutions to triple hedge fund investments by 2010


Over the next four years, institutional investors are expected to nearly triple their allocations to hedge funds - to a total $1 trillion globally, according to a study released Tuesday by The Bank of New York and Casey, Quirk & Associates. Institutions have already invested around $361 billion in hedge funds.

The bulk of that growth is expected to come from corporate and public pension plans.
