Holtzman's Vantis shuts doors

Vantis Capital Management, the Pasadena, Calif. hedge fund launched in 2002 by former Cypress Funds executive Steven Holtzman and owned in part by Home Depot co-founder Ken Langone and his son, closed its doors at yearend 2006.

The firm, which managed a global opportunistic strategy, was launched in October 2002 and had quickly increased an early asset base of $400 million to $950 million a year later, reaching $1.4 billion on January 1, 2005, according to earlier reporting by Absolute Return and other news sources.
