Tiedemann Investment Group has tapped a former manager from Advent Capital Management to launch a new event-driven hedge fund.
Alfredo Viegas launched Tiedemann Global Catalyst fund in January with $26 million of seed capital contributed by himself and Tiedemann, which runs $2.5 billion. The fund, which rose 1.4% in January, follows an event-driven strategy that invests in multiple asset classes.
Viegas joined Tiedemann's platform in July after serving as a managing director at Advent, which manages $3.2 billion. Viegas joined Advent in 2003 and, according to Tiedemann, ran roughly $800 million in three hedge funds, including a multistrategy
