Halcyon hires for real estate push

Halcyon Asset Management, a $10.4 billion multistrategy fund in New York, has hired Kyle Ransford to develop its real estate platform.

Ransford, who cofounded Cardinal Real Estate Investments of El Segundo, Calif., will build a platform to enable Halcyon to invest in real estate through specialized funds. He will lead the fifth investment team to join Halcyon since late 2004.

Until this point, Halcyon has had minimal exposure to direct investments in real estate – a strategy the firm is eager to explore as it evolves and diversifies. Cardinal manages properties in New York, California and Fiji.
