A pair of industrial stock specialists formerly with Maverick Capital Management and Ziff Brothers International are launching their own hedge fund in September.
Chris Lanigan and Scott Mayo's Atlanta-based Covey Capital Management will employ a strict selection process aimed at making long/short investments based on both quantitative and qualitative factors.
Prior to founding Covey, Lanigan spent seven years at ZBI, most recently heading investments in such sectors as energy, power, utilities, home building, building products, chemicals, agriculture and construction. Previously, he was a generalist at ZBI and, before that, an analyst in UBS's investment banking division.
