A unit of Israel "Izzy" Englander's $11.5 billion Millennium Management has recruited a pair of energy relative value specialists from $4 billion Carlson Capital, the Dallas operation founded by Clint Carlson.
John Brellenthin was previously portfolio manager of relative value plays in energy. James Mooney was an analyst in the group.
Brellenthin and Mooney started at a subsidiary of New York-based Millennium called Decade in late September. They are working out of Dallas. While the current vogue among multistrategy operations is to encourage teamwork and idea-sharing, Millennium promotes independence and autonomy among its more than 100 trading teams.
