Pickens sets sites on Texas water table


Texas tycoon T. Boone Pickens may have made his fortune in black gold, but the hedge fund manager has set his sights on the next big resource that may be in scarce supply – drinking water. The Amarillo Globe News reports Pickens is entering local politics by running for a seat on the Panhandle Water Conservation Board. In his candidacy application, Pickens cites environmental and civic concerns related to the expansion and protection of the Texas water supply.
