D. E. Shaw hires Morgan Stanley pro for counterparty management role


D. E. Shaw has hired Tom Levy for a new role overseeing the firm’s relationships with its financing and trading counterparties.

Levy previously served as a managing director, global head of client coverage and co-head of global prime brokerage sales at Morgan Stanley, where he began his career in 1988.

The hire may be one of the first in a trend, as hedge funds are increasingly viewing their relationships, especially with financing counterparties, as an area they must monitor as closely as their own internal risk management.
