Citadel, UBS vets plot quant fund


Quantitative Alpha, a Chicago-based money management shop founded by émigrés from Citadel Investment Group and UBS, is preparing to launch a quantitative long/short equity fund on October 1 that will build on the firm's long-only quantitative strategy.

Nordsee Long Short Fund will use both fundamental and technical analysis to select positions among 7,700 U.S. stocks. Vincent Greff and Tom Kornmeier, who co-founded Quantitative Alpha in 2005, will manage the fund and are looking to raise $200 million. The long-only flagship has produced a net annualized return of 14.37% since inception.
