Thales plans yet another quant fund


Quant funds with short-term investment strategies have fared better than their longer term counterparts in recent months. But that's not stopping Marek Fludzinski from betting that investors' appetite for quant strategies will extend to those with a longer time horizon in his effort to bring Thales Fund Management back to life.

After losses of 10.8% in 2007 led to heavy redemption requests from investors in the firm's then $1.1 billion flagship Thales Holdings, a statistical arbitrage market neutral equity fund, by early 2008 Fludzinski decided to liquidate the portfolio and return investors' money.
