Hemp fans court Lahde support

When 37-year-old hedge fund manager and subprime shorter Andrew Lahde decided to retire in a blaze of glory, thanking "stupid" traders for making him rich, he couldn't have expected what came next. An organization called the Hemp Industries Association called on Lahde to donate a portion of his 807% return from 2007 to support their efforts to boost "hemp as an alternative energy and food source," a theme Lahde supported in his colorful retirement letter. In an October 19 press release, David Bronner, past president of the HIA, called Lahde's views "right on the money."
