Berkowitz, Kasumovich launch macro Woodbine fund

Soros Fund Management émigrés Joshua Berkowitz and Marcel Kasumovich raised $200 million with the January launch of their Woodbine Capital Fund. It was a far cry from the initial $1 billion they had hoped to raise, yet still an impressive feat in a bitterly cold fund-raising environment.

Berkowitz, a former global macro manager at Soros, and Kasumovich, Soros' former chief economist and strategist, worked together for eight years at Soros before leaving to set up New York-based Woodbine Capital Advisors last spring - an operation that currently boasts 15 employees.
