Renaissance Technologies has named Matthew Scanlan, former head of the Americas institutional business at Barclays, to serve as president and chief executive of Renaissance Institutional Management, the firm’s institutional investor-focused subsidiary.
In his 12 years at Barclays, Scanlan was a member of the firm’s Americas Executive Committee and Global Investment Technology Executive Committee. He oversaw all client-facing activities related to the firm’s defined benefit, defined contribution, foundation, endowment and Taft-Hartley businesses in the U.S., Canada and Latin America.
Scanlan succeeds Stephen Robert, the subsidiary’s former chief executive and chairman, who has retired. Robert joined Renaissance in 2005. He is
