Wyoming hires first CIO, considers alternatives


Trent May joined the $6.1 billion Wyoming Retirement System last month as the pension fund's first chief investment officer.

Previously, May managed his own firm, Deer Creek Capital Partners in Colorado, focusing on technology, biotechnology, telecommunications and consumer cyclical industries.

In the mid-1990s, May worked at Invesco Funds Group as global partner, senior vice president and portfolio manager. He handled 10% of the firm's total assets and launched both the Endeavor Fund and the Growth and Income Fund. Before that he was a senior equity analyst and equity fund manager at Munder Capital Management.
