Barsky to shut down Alson

by

Neil Barsky has decided to shutter Alson Capital Partners, the long/short equity firm he founded in 2002, and retire from the investment business. The firm managed a peak of $3.2 billion in January 2008 but sank to $900 million at present following redemptions and a loss of 24.22% in 2008.

Barsky founded Alson after dissolving Midtown Capital, a firm he had managed since 1998 with Scott Sipprelle. Sipprelle went on to form Copper Arch Capital, which was dissolved at the end of 2007.

The flagship Alson Signature Fund (onshore) has produced a average annual return of 5.02% since inception.
