Sal. Oppenheim, the Luxembourg-headquartered private banking group, has continued to perform strongly with its long/short equity hedge fund after the hiring of a new portfolio manager late last year. The firm's SOAR European Equity Fund, which earned a EuroHedge Award nomination for its 18.29% gain in 2008, is up 4.55% this year through March. Sal. Oppenheim hired Stefan Dittmar as the fund's chief investment adviser in November to replace Cengiz Sen, who has left the firm. Dittmar joined from Amber Capital in New York, where he spent more than six years as a senior analyst for European equities.
