BNP veteran Stephane Castillo-Soler and former GlobeOp man Jerome Barraquand have raised $30 million since the launch of Quasar Capital Management, their quantitatively focused investment firm based in Paris.

The firm launched its debut fund, Orion, in December. Castillo-Soler is a 15-year veteran of BNP, where he first worked as a proprietary trader of fixed-income instruments before heading up absolute strategies within the structured investment division of BNP Asset Management. There, Castillo-Soler controlled $2 billion in assets. Before BNP, he worked as a market-maker at SocGen.
