Cantillon retreat from hedge funds renews fears of wave of shutdowns


Fears of an impending wave of hedge fund shutdowns in the coming months have been revived by the news that William von Mueflling's New York-based Cantillon Capital is shutting down its long/short European and global equity strategies to focus on long-only fund management.

Cantillon plans to return capital to investors in its Cantillon European and Cantillon World hedge funds, which collectively run some $3.7 billion in assets.
