Eric Doppstadt has been appointed as vice-president and chief investment officer of the Ford Foundation, the second largest private foundation in the US with an endowment of more than $9 billion.
He is succeeding Linda Strumpf, who is retiring from the foundation after 28 years, 16 of which she was CIO. Strumpf announced her retirement in May 2008 and Doppstadt's appointment was approved early this year. He formally assumed his CIO duties in June.
