Returns surge but medians lag benchmarks

With the MSCI Pacific Free index up 9.67% for the first half of the year, the AsiaHedge Composite median lags slightly on 8.03%.

The AsiaHedge Composite mean (as opposed to median) has performed much more strongly, on 13.58% for the first six months of the year. That said, of the major strategies, it is only Asia including Japan and Australia that have outperformed the market benchmarks in both median and mean terms.

All of the other strategies have lagged and fund managers have their work cut out in the second half in order to outperform.
