Mercer opposes EU directive


Institutional investors will be harmed by the new EU directive on alternative investments, as EU based institutional investors would be prevented from investing outside the region, according to investment consulting firm Mercer.

Concluding that the results are too prescriptive, the firm is supporting a redraft of the directive that would consider the range of regulatory approaches outside the EU as the new regulation should reflect the global nature of the industry.
