Held in London every autumn, the InvestHedge Forum is a unique 2-day conference and networking event which attracts both hedge fund managers and investors from around the globe. The event, which is held in association with EuroHedge, focuses on how investors are driving the hedge fund industry and the wider asset management world. By tackling a wide spread of investor-related topics, this event meets the industry's demand for information on how different types of investors are investing in and buying hedge funds.

Stuart Roden
Lansdowne Partners

Stuart Roden joined Lansdowne Partners Ltd in June 2001. He is a senior limited partner of Lansdowne Partners Limited Partnership and co-manages the UK hedge fund ($10.2 billion AUM). Prior to that, Stuart was a managing director of Merrill Lynch Investment Management (MLIM), managing $5 billion of UK equity high performance pension funds.

Prior to working a MLIM, Stuart was a management consultant at McKinsey & Co where he served industrial retail and financial services clients on profit improvement and strategic issues. He started his career in the City in 1984, joining SG Warburg & Co.

Stuart received a first class honours degree in Economics (BSc) from the London School of Economics in 1984.


Orin Kramer
New Jersey State Investment Council

Orin S. Kramer is a general partner of Boston Provident, L.P., which manages investment vehicles focusing on the financial services industry and is chairman of the New Jersey State Investment Council. He is president of the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights Leadership Council. He is a member of the executive committee of the board of directors of the Alliance for Climate Protection, the organisation founded and chaired by former Vice President Al Gore to pursue his global warming agenda. Orin is also on the advisory board of the Toigo Foundation, which promotes opportunities for minorities in the financial services industry.  

Orin was named by President Clinton as a member of the Commission to Study Capital Budgeting. In 1995, he was designated by the Secretary of Treasury to serve as a member of the Advisory Commission on Financial Services and he also served as a coordinator of President-elect Clinton’s transition team on financial services issues. From 1977 to 1981 he served as associate director of the White House Domestic Policy Staff. He has published two books and a number of studies on the financial services industry. Orin has taught Financial Institutions Law at Columbia Law School.


Kevin Gundle
Aurum Fund Management

Kevin Gundle is senior executive officer of Aurum Funds Limited, overseeing Aurum's investment and research framework and chairing the firms risk committee.

Aurum is an award winning manager of multi-strategy fund of hedge funds. Aurum believe that there is a link between a firm’s past and future performance; and that this link is created by the human capital of the firm. The founders of Aurum continue to manage the business today; applying the same core values, investment philosophy, management discipline and sensitivity to risk that has been applied consistently for over 15 years.

Kevin is a founding member of Aurum Fund Management Ltd and is also a director of several of Aurum’s Bermuda and Irish offshore funds. He is also a trustee of both Absolute Return for Kids (ARK) and the One to One Children’s Fund. Kevin holds a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Computer and Control Engineering.





Kevin Arenson
Stenham Asset Management

Kevin Arenson is chief investment officer at Stenham Asset Management.

Kevin is a member of the investment committee and is responsible for growing assets under management from $70 million, materially developing the investment process along with building a cohesive and professional team. He has launched additional multi-strategy and global macro funds and introduced the equity and commodity range of funds. The business and funds have won numerous prestigious awards including for long-term performance over 10 years, for four years in a row.

Prior to joining Stenham, Kevin was responsible for managing the private client investment division of Old Mutual International and was a senior portfolio manager at Liberty Asset Management, responsible for managing pension fund portfolios.



Tim Attias
Rubicon Fund Management

Tim Attias joined Rubicon Fund Management LLP in April 2008 as a partner and portfolio manager, becoming co-chief investment officer of Rubicon Master Fund in August 2009. 

Rubicon Fund Management LLP manages one fund, a $1.5 billion discretionary global macro fund which is managed via a master feeder structure.

Tim has over 20 years experience in the macro markets, trading on the proprietary desks of both Salomon Brothers and ABN Amro before joining Rubicon.   Tim graduated from Exeter University with a BA in Political Science in 1988.


Bozkurt Aydinoglu
Hazel Capital

Bozkurt Aydinoglu is co-portfolio-manager of Hazel Capital. He joined Hazel Capital in 2008 as a partner and co‐portfolio manager for the Santa Ana long/short equity Fund.

Hazel Capital LLP is an independent London‐based specialist investment manager investing exclusively in cleantech sectors which help overcome global resource constraints and achieve a sustainable environment.

Bozkurt has 16 years of principal investment, advisory and business‐building experience focused on the cleantech, IT and telecommunications industries. In 2006, Bozkurt launched the first global clean energy long/short fund for Alma Global Investments where he was a partner and member of the investment committee. This fund delivered an annualised net return of over 30% between 2006 and 2007. In 2002, he co‐founded New Energy Finance (acquired by Bloomberg on 10 December 2009), the leading provider of data, research and analysis to top investors in the global cleantech industry.


Andrew Baker
The Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA)

Andrew Baker is the chief executive officer of AIMA, the trade association representing the global hedge fund industry, and has been in this role since January 2009.

Prior to joining AIMA Andrew spent six years at Schroders in London where he was
COO - alternative investments. Previously, he held senior business management positions at Gartmore and UBS Asset Management after a 15 year spell of managing institutional assets at HD International and N. M. Rothschild. In the early 1980s he spent two years on secondment at the Bank of Papua New Guinea in Port Moresby.

Andrew has a degree in Mathematics from Imperial College, London and is married with three children.



Nathanaël Benzaken
Lyxor Asset Management

Nathanaël Benzaken is managing director and head of managed account development for Lyxor, overseeing its strategic development on a global basis.

Nathanaël joined Lyxor AM in March 2001 as head of the long/short equity desk. He was promoted to managing director and head of the hedge fund research and selection department in January 2005, where he was in charge of the construction and management of the managed account platform, including due diligence, selection and risk management of hedge funds. He was appointed head of managed account platform development in June 2009.

Prior to joining Lyxor AM, he was manager of the financial risk consulting division at Andersen (Luxembourg) for two and a half years and treasurer at Crédit Agricole for three years. Nathanaël graduated from Marseille Business School (France) and holds a Master’s degree in Finance from Toulouse University (France).



Nigel Blanshard
Culross Global Management

Nigel Blanshard is the founder and CEO of Culross Global Management Ltd. His role involves managing all Culross funds as well as overseeing the business. Nigel set up Culross in 1992, which has been a specialist investor in hedge funds since 1995.

Culross Global Management Ltd is an independent ‘forward looking’ thematic fund of hedge funds manager, with an AUM of $600 million. Culross has four Dublin listed funds using the same thematic approach but with different risk return profiles.

Nigel’s career began in 1980 when he joined CIGNA International as a bond portfolio manager. He left CIGNA in 1989 to join Century Asset Management as the company's CIO and joint MD. Nigel was educated at Cambridge University, graduating in 1979 with a BA (Hons) and MA (Cantab).



Leon Beukes
Towers Watson

Leon Beukes is a senior investment consultant at Towers Watson and heads up the Equity Hedge Fund and the Multi-strategy & Reinsurance Hedge Fund research teams.

Towers Watson is a global investment consultancy that provides advice to institutional clients. Towers Watson’s client base have over $2 trillion of assets under management of which more than $13 billion are directly invested with hedge fund managers.

Leon is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and has been active in marking and setting actuarial exams since 2003. Leon enjoys travelling, classical music and spending quality time with his wife and two sons.



Riccardo Capelvenere
JCH Capital Management

Riccardo Capelvenere is a partner at JCH Capital Management LLP. He is responsible for business development and trading model implementation and is a member of the firm’s investment committee.

JCH is a specialist systematic currency manager founded in London in 2004. The firm manages approximately $120 million in its global currency program. Prior to JCH the three partners of the firm worked together at Goldman Sachs.

Riccardo has previously worked at Spear, Leeds and Kellogg and Goldman Sachs primarily within single shares and portfolio trading. Riccardo has a BEng degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the City University in London.



Maria Cantillon
BNP Paribas Securities Services

Maria Cantillon is global head of alternative investment funds, and is primarily responsible for bringing service solutions to alternative fund managers regardless of fund jurisdiction.

Maria has worked in the securities industry for more than 10 years in multiple locations, covering Dublin, Luxembourg, New York, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Prior to joining BNP Paribas, Maria was regional head of client management in Asia with JP Morgan, then head of sales with HSBC South East Asia.


Sean Capstick
Bank of America Merrill Lynch

Sean Capstick is EMEA head of prime brokerage at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in London. Before that he worked at Deutsche Bank as global head of capital introduction and European co-head of Prime Finance Sales. For nine years prior to joining Deutsche Sean worked at Morgan Stanley, in prime brokerage sales and European cash equity sales. He started his career at Goldman Sachs in New York and London.
Sean has BA and MBA degrees from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, USA. He lives in London with his wife and three boys.



Mark Cecil
Jabre Capital Partners

Mark Cecil is a founding partner at Jabre Capital Partners, a $5 billion investment manager based in Geneva.

Mark began his career in finance in 1986 working alongside Philippe Jabre at BAii (London) a subsidiary of BNP Paribas. In 1997 he moved with Philippe to GLG Partners and in 2007 moved to help establish Jabre Capital Partners.

Mark qualified as a medical doctor from St Thomas' Hospital Medical School in 1982 and was awarded an MBA from Insead Business School, Fontainebleau, in 1985.



Peter Coates
Lighthouse Partners

Peter Coates is head of European investment office at Lighthouse Partners LLC. He is a member of the global investment team, and the relative-value and equity investment committees, focusing his efforts on identifying investment opportunities. 

Founded in 1999, Lighthouse Investment Partners LLC is a global fund of hedge funds investment adviser, managing approximately $4.5 billion. The proprietary managed account programme is the hallmark of Lighthouse’s investment process, which currently includes approximately 90 funded investments and approximately $3 billion in capital.

Peter has worked globally, in portfolio management and investment roles, in the investment management industry for more than 13 years. Peter is a director of an alternative-investment asset management business in Australia, a CFA charter holder, and a Fellow of the UK Securities Institute.



Martin Cornish
Katten Muchin Rosenman Cornish

Martin Cornish is the managing and senior partner of Katten Muchin Rosenman Cornish LLP, the London affiliate of US law firm Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP. 

Martin was previously the principal of MW Cornish, a niche financial services firm which he originally established in 1997; partner and head of PricewaterhouseCoopers' financial services network of law firms; European legal director of a US investment bank; and a partner of Simmons & Simmons solicitors, where he qualified.

Martin is an acknowledged legal funds and financial services expert and regularly appears as such in the Legal 500 and Chambers' Directories of leading lawyers.



Matthew Crisp
Sigma Partnership

Matthew Crisp FCA is a partner in Sigma Partnership, a member firm of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales, providing specialist, pragmatic and professional advice on compliance, tax and accounting matters to alternative fund managers, stockbrokers and financial intermediaries.

Matthew is a co-founder of 360° ODD, Sigma Partnership’s comprehensive and independent legal and operational due diligence service for institutional investors, involving a global consortium of professional services firms including DLA Piper, Norton Rose and BDO.

Matthew was previously a senior member of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ alternative investment management team in London. He started his career as an analyst for BZW in Hanoi.



Christopher Day
Merchant Capital

Christopher Day is director of Merchant Capital Limited and advises alternative investment managers on establishing their investment strategies as UCITS funds.
Christopher has over 20 years experience as an investment manager. He was one of the founders of PCE Investors, which established over 40 hedge funds under his leadership, and was managing director of Thornton Management (Asia) Limited, Dresdner Bank’s Asian investment business.
The UCITS fund arm of Merchant House Group was established in 2009 by Christopher and George Cadbury and was one of the first UCITS platforms to market.



Rui De Figueiredo
Morgan Stanley Alternative Investment Partners

Rui de Figueiredo is a consultant who provides investment leadership for the Alternative Investment Partners’ Portfolio Solutions and Hedge Fund Advisory Groups. In addition, he is a member of the Morgan Stanley Smith Barney Global Investment Committee. Rui is also an Associate Professor at the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley. 

Before joining Morgan Stanley, Rui was a consultant to Citi Alternative Investments.  Earlier, he was with the Boston Consulting Group and Alliance Consulting Group. Rui has a PhD and two MA’s from Stanford University and an AB, summa cum laude, from Harvard University. 



John Demaine
James Caird Asset Management

John Demaine is a founding partner and COO of James Caird Asset Management LLP (JCAM).

JCAM manages the JCAM Global Fund, a $2.4 billion fund formerly known as the Moore Credit Fund. With an established global team of 30 investment professionals, JCAM has a proven track record of generating strong risk adjusted returns in volatile credit and equity markets.

John is a Chartered Accountant (ICAEW) and has over 20 years experience in asset management. After qualifying in 1985 he joined Arthur Andersen & Co. Since then, John has held various posts at Sabre Fund Management (1988), BZW Investment Management (1995) and BGI (1997).   



Patrick Fenal

Patrick Fenal is the chief executive officer of Unigestion.

Created in 1971, Unigestion is a recognised European independent asset manager providing specialist investment solutions to institutional investors. With £6.1 billion assets under management, the firm concentrates on highly active satellite investment strategies. 

Patrick started his career in wealth management at Credit Suisse. He then worked in Iran for a retail branch of ABN Amro, before joining a brokerage firm in the US. He joined Unigestion in 1978 as a bond manager and contributed to the development of the ‘horizon yields’ technique. Patrick led Unigestion’s foray into hedge funds, structuring research and developing an investment process that makes Unigestion one of the leading institutional fund of hedge fund managers.



Dave Fishwick
M&G Investments

Dave Fishwick is head of the macro team at M&G Investments and fund manager for the discretionary global macro fund, Episode. Dave and the team manage $2.2 billion (June 2010). 

Dave joined Prudential Portfolio Managers (now M&G Investments) in 1987 as a European economist; in 1994 he re-located to Prudential’s Australian business, becoming head of fixed interest and asset allocation strategy. During this time he developed his ideas on market behaviour designing the strategy, philosophy and process that was implemented for the Prudential Life Fund when he returned to Europe in 1999.

Following the mandate's success, the Episode fund was launched in 2005 and more recently, a UCITs III version was launched in June 2010.



Martin Gagnon

Martin joined Innocap in 2003 as co-chief executive officer.

Innocap is a world leader in managed account platform providers for hedge fund investments. Built in 1996 by and for institutional investors it is now jointly owned by National Bank of Canada and BNP Paribas.

Prior to joining Innocap, Martin was vice-president in the international equity division of Goldman Sachs in New York. He previously held various positions for Goldman Sachs Canada, Laurentian Bank and National Bank of Canada. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Quebec in Montreal, an MBA from the University of British Columbia and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.



Timothy Gardner
Signet Capital Management

Timothy Gardner is global head of sales and marketing at Signet Capital Management Ltd. A member of the executive board, he is responsible for business development, new product launches and client service across the firm.

Signet is an independent fund of hedge funds specialist, with offices in London, Lausanne, Washington and Hong Kong. It manages just over $1.4 billion in discretionary client assets across five main funds, including a recently launched multi manager absolute return UCITS III fund.

Timothy spent 11 years at Merrill Lynch & Co., before he founded an SEC registered investment advisor, Guardian Capital LLC. He joined Signet in April 2009 and returned to the UK into his current role in December 2009.



Michele Gesualdi
Kairos Group

 Michele Gesualdi joined the Kairos Group in 2003. He is responsible for the London operation on the fund of funds side and is a portfolio manager for these products. Michele has more than 10 years of experience in the selection of hedge funds having worked both in London and New York.

The Kairos Group is the leading independent player in the alternative asset management space in Italy, with over $6 billion under management. The firm has been a pioneer in this field and the first to launch hedge funds and fund of hedge funds in Italy.

Michele Gesualdi holds a BA in Economics and Financial Markets (summa cum laude) from the Bocconi University in Milan.



Roberto Giuffrida
Permal Investment Management

Roberto Giuffrida is senior vice president and regional director EMEA at Permal Investment Management. Alongside the EMEA role, which encompasses both institutional and financial intermediaries, Roberto is involved in product structuring and new business development, working closely with Permal’s New York based investment committee.

Managing approximately $20 billion, Permal Group is one of the oldest and largest alternative asset management firms in the world, offering a wide range of multi-manager and multi-strategy funds, including absolute and directional strategies.

Before joining Permal in 2000, Roberto worked at Scudder-Threadneedle Investments in London, where he was in charge of business development and clients servicing in Southern Europe. Roberto holds a BA, summa cum laude, in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Rome, Italy.



Joshua Greene
COMAC Capital

Joshua Greene is a partner and the head of the research and analysis team at COMAC Capital LLP. 

COMAC Capital LLP is one of the leading European-based global macro hedge fund managers with over $5.5 billion of assets under management. 

Prior to joining COMAC, Joshua worked at Loews Corporation, Soros Fund Management, RISConsulting Group and Oliver, Wyman & Company. Joshua holds a joint AM/AB summa cum laude in Mathematics from Harvard University and is a CFA Charterholder. 



Nick Hannan
Oakley Alternative Investment Management

Nick Hannan is CIO of Oakley Alternative Investment Management.

Oakley Alternative Investment Management (OAIM) is part of Oakley Capital Limited. Its main fund Oakley Absolute Return (OAR) was launched in July 2005. OAIM is part of Oakley Capital which has approximately $800 million AUM, which is split across private equity, venture capital and fund of hedge funds. OAR’s AUM is currently around $250 million, with approximately 30% coming from founding partners.

Nick was previously head of research at LCF Rothschild Asset Management (LCFRAM). Nick began his career as an emerging markets analyst, at SBC Warburg in 1996, before joining LCF in 1997.



Michael Hart
bfinance UK

Michael Hart is director, business development for the UK and Ireland for bfinance UK Limited. He has been with bfinance for 10 years and was recruited to start UK business development activities.

bfinance provides investment manager search and selection and related services to institutional investors from over 20 countries worldwide. bfinance has eight offices and has conducted searches for investment mandates worth over €58 billion.

Michael previously worked in the asset management industry in the UK and the US. Michael has BSc (Hons) in Property Law and Finance from Westminster University.



Ana Haurie
Dexion Capital

Ana Haurie is group managing director of Dexion Capital plc and Dexion Capital (Guernsey) Limited. She heads Dexion’s advisory business, focusing on research and analysis.

Dexion’s group activities encompass marketing, distribution and capital raising for FOFH and single manager hedge funds, research and advisory services, offshore investment management and market making services in the UK listed hedge fund sector.

Ana’s career began with Cantor Fitzgerald in 1989, followed by Sheppards Stockbrokers and as a consultant with the Bank of England, CSFB, West LB and Barclays Capital. She was educated at St. Andrews University and Stanford University, California, MBA (Open University).


André Havas
Optimized Portfolio Management

André Havas is head of investor relations at Optimized Portfolio Management (OPM).
OPM is Scandinavia’s leading fund of hedge fund manager and hedge fund selection team. It manages approximately $500 million through fund of hedge funds and advisory mandates for institutional investors. OPM’s selection process is focused on correlation, risk and performance of the underlying funds.
André has 14 years experience of alternative investments from the investor relations side. Previous experience includes six years working for GAM and CDK in London. Before joining OPM, he was employed by Deutsche Bank in Stockholm. He earned a Bsc in Business Law, French and Italian from the University of Lund in Sweden.


Lucy Heller
ARK Schools

Lucy Heller is managing director of ARK Schools, an education charity which runs eight inner-city academies in London, Birmingham and Portsmouth. ARK academies are non-selective, non-denominational, community schools which aim to provide all its pupils with the skills, knowledge and qualifications to succeed at university and in their chosen career.

Lucy joined ARK Schools from TSL Education, a subsidiary of News International, where she was joint managing director. Her previous roles include general manager of The Observer and executive chairman at Verso, a trade and academic publisher. She has worked for many years with a number of charitable and voluntary organisations including the Marshall Commission, Community Links and the Bush Theatre.


Michael Huttman
Millennium Global Investments

Michael Huttman is executive chairman and chief investment officer of Millennium Global Investments. Michael oversees Millennium Global’s investment processes and risk culture. He chairs the Strategic Investment Committee and is responsible for new product development.

Millennium Global is a specialist currency investment manager founded in 1994 with c. $11 billion in AUM. 

Michael has over 27 years of investment experience. He was formerly a chief portfolio manager responsible for overseeing currency strategies at GSAM, where he also headed the International Asset Allocation Committee. Michael graduated from the University of Geneva (MA Economics) and has a certificate in Investment Management from the London Business School.



Gihan Ismail

Gihan Ismail has 17 years experience in investment consulting and joined PiRho in 2009. She leads the company’s asset management advisory services business.

PiRho is an independent consulting firm established in 2008. It provides customised advice to institutional investors on a broad range of investment issues and to asset managers on strategic direction (including M&A), marketing and business development strategies and product development.

Gihan previously spent 14 years at Hewitt (formerly Bacon & Woodrow) in various roles, including head of the continental european investment consulting practice and over six years as head of manager research.



Charles Kirwan-Taylor
RAB Capital

Charles Kirwan-Taylor is chief investment officer at RAB Capital, where he chairs the investment and risk committee which oversees all the firm’s investment activities.  

RAB is a specialist asset manager with a 10 year track record; it runs 12 investment strategies, founded on fundamental research and with a particular expertise in natural resources. RAB’s AUM totalled $1.3 billion at June 30 2010.

Charles joined RAB in 2008 from Greyshrike Capital, a European hedge fund manager which he co-founded in 2006. Prior to this Charles held senior positions in capital markets at Credit Suisse, Barclays and Kleinwort Benson.



Lars Kroijer 

Lars Kroijer was the CIO of Holte Capital Ltd, a London-based special situations hedge fund which he founded in 2002 before returning external capital in the spring of 2008. Prior to establishing Holte Capital, Lars served in the London office of HBK Investments focusing on special situations investing. In addition, he previously worked at SC Fundamental, a value-focused hedge fund, and Lazard Frères, both in New York.

In the summer of 2010 Lars will publish a book titled Money Mavericks (Financial Times Press).  He currently serves on the advisory board of two hedge funds and Kit Digital (NASDAQ: KITD).

Lars graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University and received an MBA from Harvard Business School.


Nikos Latsos
Alpheus Advisors

Nikos Latsos is the head of alternative investments and the portfolio manager for the hedge fund investments and the in-house systematic futures trading fund.
Alpheus is a single-family family office with a significant allocation to hedge fund strategies.

Between 2004 and 2007, Nikos co-founded IKOS SA, an investments and technology firm backed by the IKOS hedge fund. Prior to IKOS, Nikos was a senior hedge fund analyst at Merrill Lynch, Schroders and Man Group, developing structured products on hedge fund portfolios. Nikos graduated with an MBA and a first class Mechanical Engineering Master's degree from Imperial College in London.



Florence Lombard
The Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA)

Florence Lombard was chief executive officer of the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) until December 2008. She stayed on as executive director, policy and government affairs until March 2010.

She is currently a non-executive director of AIMA. She chairs the board of the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association (CAIA). In June 2010 she was appointed to the Board of Alpha Strategic Plc a company listed on the LSE.

In January 2010 Florence was nominated one of the 50 leading Women in Hedge Funds by the Hedge Fund Journal and PricewaterhouseCoopers and received the CAIA First Leadership Award. 

Florence is also a Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming and a life and executive coach.



Simon Meadows
Lucidus Capital Partners

Simon Meadows is head of business development at Lucidus Capital Partners having joined in 2008.

Prior to this Simon was a managing director at Credit Suisse in London which he joined in 1992. He was a member of the Fixed Income Operating Committee as head of fixed income sales in Europe and prior to this he ran the International Debt Capital Markets business until 2000. Simon started his career at Salomon Brothers in 1984, originally as a Eurobond trader before heading debt syndicate.

Simon has a BSc in Economics from the London School of Economics. Simon is also a trustee director of the Credit Suisse UK Pension Fund and co-chairman of the Investment Committee of the fund.



Raj Mehta
Persistent Edge Research

Raj Mehta is managing partner and CEO of Persistent Edge Research LLC.

Raj co-founded Persistent Edge in 2002 and focuses on global manager research. Persistent Asset Management is a private, registered investment advisor specialising in the construction and active management of unique funds of hedge funds, with over $550 million AUM. It has a global team of professionals, with offices in Singapore, Hong Kong, Beijing and San Francisco.

Previously, Raj was a managing director with Redwood Ventures, a California-based venture capital firm. He is fluent in Gujarati, Spanish and English and also an avid tennis player.



Bill Muysken

Bill Muysken is Mercer's chief investment officer - alternative alpha. In this role he oversees the roughly $1.7 billion that Mercer invests in alternative alpha strategies on behalf of its clients around the world.  
Mercer is a leading global provider of investment solutions and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan, Inc (MMC). Mercer’s history can be traced back to 1937, when MMC, the US insurance broking firm, established an employee benefits department.
Bill rejoined Mercer in May 2010, having previously been with Mercer from 1992 to 2007. Bill is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.



Rahul Moodgal
Parvus Asset Management / Methodology Group

Rahul Moodgal is partner - head of investor relations and business development at Parvus Asset Management, focusing on European equities, and at Methodology Group, focusing on cross market arbitrage.
Rahul started his career as an academic having studied at 20 universities in four countries and taught at three. In 1998 he moved into finance with a focus on investor relations. He built the client service functions at TT International (1998 to 2004) and Union Bancaire Privee, London (2004 to 2005) before becoming head of investor relations for the TCI platform (2005 to 2009).



Gideon Nieuwoudt
Silver Creek Capital Management
Gideon Nieuwoudt is managing director, portfolio manager and a member of the Investment Committee of Silver Creek Capital Management. He heads Silver Creek’s London office and provides research and coverage of global hedge fund managers. He is responsible for the continued expansion of Silver Creek’s non-US business with a focus on increasing the investment opportunities in Europe and Asia.
Silver Creek specialises in alternative investment strategies. Over the last 16 years, it has earned the confidence of institutions and individuals who have entrusted approximately $6.5 billion to Silver Creek’s management.

Gideon has 12 years of relevant hedge fund investment experience.



David North
Legal & General Investment Management

David North runs asset allocation at Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) and is the lead fund manager of the L&G distribution range of funds and the global macro portfolios.

He joined LGIM in 2000, after eight years at Scudder Investments where he headed the London insurance asset management division.

David graduated from Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge University in 1984 and has over 25 years of investment management experience. He is well known through the industry for managing key fixed income funds for Legal & General.



Thanos Papasavvas
Investec Asset Management

Thanos Papasavvas is the head of Investec Asset Management’s currency management team and has been tasked with the development and expansion of the company’s established currency management expertise.

Previously, Thanos worked for Credit Suisse Asset Management (CSAM) where he was a director and head of currency management in London. He joined CSAM’s fixed income team in 1994 after two years as an economist for the UK Government Economics Service.




Elizabeth Para
Overlay Asset Management

Elizabeth Para is currency investment strategist at Overlay Asset Management (OAM), the currency manager within BNP Paribas Investment Partners.  She is a member of OAM’s executive and investment committees.   
OAM provides a full range of currency solutions, including absolute return, active and passive currency hedging strategies.
Prior to joining OAM in 2008, Elizabeth was head of fixed income product engineering at SSgA Europe, where she established a European absolute return business. She has also worked at Barclays Global Investors, CIBC World Markets, and RBC Capital Markets. Elizabeth has a BA from the University of Western Ontario and a Masters from the University of Toronto.



Donald Pepper
Henderson Global Investors

Donald Pepper, CFA, is head of hedge funds at Henderson Global Investors. 

Founded in 1934, Henderson Global Investors manages >$93 billion. Henderson launched its first hedge fund in 1999 and now manages >$3 billion in 14 hedge funds and three UCITS III Absolute Return Funds. The UCITS III Funds encompass European long/short (directional), credit long/short (market neutral) and global currency (systematic macro) strategies.

Donald heads the Absolute Return Fund business at Henderson and co-manages two Henderson absolute return fund of funds (c$200 million AUM). Previously he was head of alternative investments at New Star and spent 21 years at Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch in FICC and prime brokerage. Donald read PPE at Oxford and is on the ‘Provost’s Council’ which provides advice on the Queen’s College’s £140 million Endowment.



Joanna Perkins
Financial Markets Law Committee (FMLC) – established by the Bank of England

Joanna Perkins is the director of the Financial Markets Law Committee (FMLC) – established by the Bank of England. She manages the work of the FMLC, acts as a delegate to various working groups, liaises with the judiciary, and maintains contacts with similar committees worldwide.

The FMLC identifies legal uncertainty in financial markets and considers solutions to this uncertainty. It also acts as a bridge to the judiciary, keeping courts up-to-date with market developments.

With a Doctorate in Law from Oxford University, Joanna holds a tenancy at 3-4 South Square. Joanna has lectured in Britain and France and previously managed a Law Commission project.



Joseph Pignatelli
Archstone Partnerships

Joseph S. Pignatelli, Jr. is the co-founder, president and portfolio manager of the Archstone Partnerships. His responsibilities include investment policy, manager selection and portfolio and risk management. 

The Archstone Partnerships launched on January 1, 1991 and currently manages over $4.6 billion in total assets. 

Joseph has over 25 year’s investment management experience.   He received his BB.A in Management and Information Systems from Pace University and earned an MS in Finance from Baruch College. Joseph currently serves as a Trustee of the Baruch College Fund and is a member of its Investment Committee.  



Emily Porter-Lynch
Universities Superannuation Scheme

Emily Porter-Lynch, portfolio manager, absolute return strategies, currently works as co-portfolio manager on the hedge fund allocation of the alternatives portfolio at the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS). 

USS manages the pensions of some 400 participating employers and is one of the largest pension schemes in the UK.





Ian Prideaux
Grosvenor Estate

Ian Prideaux, chief investment officer, has been with the Grosvenor Estate since 2006 where he manages its non-property investment portfolio including its long equity and bond portfolios, hedge fund and private equity investments. He is responsible for asset allocation and manager selection, and for managing the relationships with external investment advisers. He also manages the charitable investment portfolio for the Westminster Foundation.

Prior to Grosvenor, Ian worked as product development director during four years at HSBC Private Bank (UK) Ltd. He also worked at SG Warburg (now part of UBS) for 11 years, first as an investment banker in the corporate finance division and later as group business development director. Ian qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse and has worked overseas in the UAE and Australia.


Florence Remy-Brunelle
Amundi Alternative Investments

Florence Remy-Brunelle is a business development manager for the managed accounts platform of Amundi.
The alternative investments business line of Amundi has $12.09 billion of assets under management as of 31/03/10 and provides absolute return solutions through fund of hedge funds and managed accounts.

Florence joined the Crédit Agricole Group in 2001 as international manager for investor relations. She was also head of marketing and communication at AIG International Asset Management/DKR Capital in Stamford, USA and marketing and communication manager at Wells Fargo. She graduated from the Troyes Business School (France) and holds an MBA from the University of Colorado at Denver.



Simon Rostron
Rostron Parry

Simon Rostron is director of Rostron Parry Ltd (London).  He runs a series of communications and marketing accounts for alternative investment managers, providers of services to the alternative investment industry and, more broadly, a series of financial groups.

Rostron Parry Ltd was founded in 1991 to provide UK and European PR, communications and marketing services to the financial industry with particular reference to hedge funds and funds-of-funds and exchanges.   

Simon has a Science degree from Oxford University (Pembroke College), was a former stockjobber on the floor of the Stock Exchange and, before entering public relations, had a brief career as a journalist when he helped to found Futures & Options World magazine. He usually eats well.



Simon Ruddick
Albourne Partners

Simon Ruddick is the managing director and co-founder of Albourne Partners, the world's largest hedge fund advisory firm, which he co-founded in March 1994.

Albourne's 180+ clients have over $200 billion dollars invested in hedge funds. Albourne was awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise in 2006 and again in 2009., the not-for-profit website, has over 65,000 residents and has led to Simon twice appearing in the Institutional Investor's Top 40 Online Entrepreneurs. Albourne has also hosted Hedgestock, featuring a performance by The Who, in 2006 to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust.

Simon is a Trustee of the Hedge Funds Standard Board. As well as appearing on Bloomberg TV and Thomson Reuters TV, Ruddick’s appearances on CNBC have included co-hosting both its Squawk Box, Europe Tonight and Closing Bell programmes.



Adrian Sales
Albourne Partners

Adrian Sales is head of operational due diligence at Albourne Partners, which he joined in 2001. Albourne annually conducts due diligence on over 700 funds.

Albourne was established in 1994 and advises investors on hedge, commodity and private equity funds. It has 180 clients who have over $220 billion invested in hedge funds.



Manfred Schraepler
Deutsche Bank AG London

Manfred Schraepler, head of db funds, is responsible for systematically managed funds within global markets structuring at Deutsche Bank AG London.

db funds offers a full range of funds which employ both alpha and enhanced beta strategies to access all of the different asset classes. Its DB Platinum fund range has over 60 funds with net assets of €12.67 billion (as at 30 June 2010).

Manfred studied Public Administration and Political Economy in New York and holds a Master in Public International Law and a Maîtrise in Business Law and Accounting from Strasbourg, France.



Douglas Shaw

Douglas Shaw is managing director and COO of BlackRock's fundamental equity business in Europe.

Douglas joined the firm when Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (MLIM) merged with BlackRock in 2006. At MLIM, he was the head of alternatives. Previously, he was COO of the Children's Investment Fund (TCI), a single manager global equity hedge fund based in London. Before this, Douglas worked at Gartmore as head of derivative investment where he helped create a hedge fund business. He began his career in derivatives at Société Générale and Banque Paribas.

Douglas earned a BA degree at the University of Oxford in 1986.



Justin Sheperd
Aurora Investment Management

Justin Sheperd, CFA, is a partner and portfolio manager of Aurora Investment Management. He is involved in every aspect of Aurora's investing activities, including portfolio management and the evaluation of managers.

Founded in 1988, Aurora manages $10 billion in funds of hedge funds, including the Aurora family of funds and is the Investment Adviser of Dexion Absolute.   

Justin graduated from Miami University and received an MBA from The University of Chicago.  Justin is a member of the Business Advisory Council of Miami University and has been a guest speaker at Northwestern University, University of Chicago, and Miami University.



Adam Sorab
CQS Management

Adam Sorab is head of investor relations and a director of CQS Management Limited. 

Prior to joining CQS in 2004, Adam was director of absolute return strategies at Deutsche Asset Management (DeAM) where he was responsible for Europe and the Middle East. Adam joined DeAM from CSFB where he was a founding member and director of marketing for the firm’s hedge fund operation, the Leveraged Funds Group. Before this, he worked for seven years at Schroders in London as a derivatives trader.

Adam holds a BSc (Hons) in Economics from the London School of Economics. He is President of the International Federation of Technical Analysts (IFTA) and a Fellow and former Chairman of the UK’s Society of Technical Analysts (STA). Adam is also an Independent Member of the Investment Committee of the BUPA’s Pension Fund.



Gabriele Susinno

Gabriele Susinno is the executive director at Unigestion, and heads the hedge funds quantitative research and risk team.

Created in 1971, Unigestion is a recognised European independent asset manager providing specialist investment solutions to institutional investors. With £6.1 billion assets under management, the firm concentrates on highly active satellite investment strategies.

Gabriele started his career as an experimental physicist at CERN. He moved to finance in 1997 as a quantitative analyst at the London Business School Software House and subsequently joined INA (Italian Life Insurance) with responsibility for the quantitative ALM modelling. More recently he was head of market risk management at the Banque Cantonale Vaudoise. Gabriele holds a MPhil in Astrophysics and a PHD in Particle Physics from the University of Geneva.



Maximillian Spiess

Maximilian Spiess is vice-president Europe and LATAM at FX Concepts, and has been with the Firm since 2007. His focus has been on further developing the firm's institutional investment client base, taking responsibility for territories within Europe and LATAM. Since 2010 he is also responsible for the newly created Swiss operations of the Firm.

Maximilian has several years of work experience in business development and sales, gained during an international career with Reuters, Philips and The InterAmerican Development Bank. Maximilian holds an MBA from the University of Chicago (Booth School of Business).



Shiv Taneja

The firm covers over 40 asset management marketplaces around the world.

Shiv has analysed the asset management industry for the past 17 years. Prior to joining Cerulli Associates, Shiv worked in mutual fund research at Standard & Poor’s in London.



Richard Watkins
Liability Solutions

Richard Watkins is founder and CEO of Liability Solutions.          

Liability Solutions is an independent hedge fund placement agent and institutional investment consultant with offices in London, Connecticut, Malta and Geneva. Its third party marketing activity involves working on an exclusive distribution basis for a number of carefully selected single-manager hedge funds that have elected to outsource their capital raising activities.

Richard has over 30 years of institutional investment experience. Prior to founding Liability Solutions, he was co-founder and CEO of the LatInvest Group, a London and New York based Latin American investment bank.



Harold Yoon
SAIL Advisors

Harold Yoon joined SAIL Advisors in July 2009 as the chief investment officer.

SAIL Advisors is one of Asia’s largest global funds of hedge funds firms with over 40 employees, offering global and Asian FoHFs to investors worldwide.

Harold has over 15 years experience in hedge funds investing. From 2002, he was the CIO and head of ING FoHFs of ING Investment Management. From 1994 to 2000, he was the head of trading risk management at ING Barings in the Americas. He received his BS in Electrical Engineering and his MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.


Geoffrey Yu

Geoffrey Yu is an associate director with the fundamental strategy team in London. He covers G10 currencies and China, and is responsible for originating trade ideas and short- and medium-term forecasts of global currencies for both internal and external clients.

In London since July 2008, he joined the bank in Singapore in July 2006 before spending 20 months in Zurich. Geoffrey also interned with the strategy group during the summers of 2004 and 2005.

Geoffrey authors FX Talking Points and other publications. He graduated in June 2006 with a double BA in Mathematics and Economics from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, US. He received his Masters in Finance from the London School of Economics in 2010.
