Top managers present best value ideas at Sohn HK 2017 event

While renowned short-seller Carson Block of Muddy Waters found himself mobbed by journalists for his views at the Sohn Hong Kong 2017 conference this week, the philanthropy event – which targets hedge fund money for cancer treatment and research – nonetheless retained a strong focus on value companies.

Most of the managers who presented – including Seth Fischer of Oasis, Eashwar Krishnan of Tybourne Capital and Arjun Menon of Highbridge – focused on companies experiencing strong growth and value rather than losers or scandal-ridden firms.

There was a notable absence of macro managers presenting this year, unlike in previous years – perhaps underlining the difficult conditions that have been facing most managers in the macro space over the past year or so.
