Omar Kodmani
Permal Group

Omar Kodmani was appointed chief executive of Permal Group in 2014, having previously been its president. Prior to this appointment, he was senior executive officer, responsible for monitoring Permal's international investment activities as well as asset gathering initiatives.

Before joining Permal in 2000, Omar spent seven years with Scudder Investments in London and New York where he developed the firm's international mutual fund business. Prior to Scudder, he worked for four years at Equitable Capital (now part of Alliance Bernstein).

He is a CFA® Charterholder and serves on the Advisory Board of the CFA® (UK). Omar holds an MBA in Finance (Beta Gamma Sigma) from New York University Stern School of Business, a BA in Economics from Columbia University and a GC Certificate from the London School of Economics.

Robert Lloyd George
Lloyd George Advisory (HK)

Robert Lloyd George established Lloyd George Advisory (HK) in 2015 to build on his 40 year track record of investing in emerging markets, after retiring from Lloyd George Management in 2014. He founded Lloyd George Management in 1991 with Eaton Vance (Boston) Mirabaud and Sal Oppenheim as main partners, and developed long only funds on China, India, GEM, BRIC, reaching a maximum AUM of $17.7 billion in 2007. Lloyd George Management was sold to Bank of Montreal in January 2011.

Robert was the managing director of Indosuez Asia Investment Services in Hong Kong from 1984, launching the first closed end country funds for Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, China and India. In 1978, he joined the Fiduciary Trust Company in New York to work on international investments for the UN Pension Fund. Robert has published several books and advises a number of external funds including the Eton College endowment and the IMF retirement plan.

Robert was educated at Oxford University and began his investment career in London in 1974 with Coutts & Co.

Jeb Altonaga
Pinyin Capital Management

Jeb Altonaga is chief operating officer at Pinyin Capital Management and has over 16 years’ experience in financial services across several disciplines and roles. Most recently, he was SVP and head of the Asia-Pacific region for the middle, back office and fund administration services of the Northern Trust Hedge Funds Services (NTHFS) division. Locally, he was a member of the Hong Kong management team and risk committee and globally sat on the NTHFS management and executive leadership team. Previously, in Chicago, Jeb managed the business unit control (BUC) team for Citadel.. In addition to BUC management, Jeb worked in a business analyst capacity helping design, test and implement the middle office technology platform. Jeb has a BS in Business Administration from Cal State University, Los Angeles and a Certificate in Accounting from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Dr Ji Wu Chen
VStone Asset Management

Jiwu Chen is the founder and chief executive of Vstone Capital. He holds a doctorate in Finance and has over 19 years’ experience in investment banking, stock and fund business and asset management. Before founding Vstone, Dr Chen was fund manager of China Southern Fund Management (1999 to 2002), investment director of China Life Insurance, and Deputy chief executive officer and chief investment officer of Fullgoal Fund Management. He is also a professor at Zhejiang University, Xiamen University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Renming University of China and Fudan University.

Barry Lau
Adamas Asset Management

Barry Lau is a co-founder, managing partner and chief investment officer (private credit) of Adamas Asset Management. Prior to founding Adamas Asset Management, he was head of fund derivatives Asia at BNP Paribas focused on structured collateralised lending on hedge funds assets. The portfolio of collateralised loans he originated, executed and managed was around $1 billion. Prior to BNP Paribas, Barry was head of fund derivatives Asia at ABN AMRO focused on writing dynamic guarantees by structuring derivative instruments on hedge funds. He was formerly a lawyer at Clifford Chance LLP, London, focused on private equity and hedge fund establishments and investments. Barry obtained his law degree from University College London.

David Lau
Springs Capital (Hong Kong)

David Lau heads up the legal and compliance function of Springs Capital, a Chinese alternative asset manager, and is a member of the executive management team. He is also in charge of the risk committee. David has over 26 years of professional experience in financial services, capital market, investment banking, IPO advisory, risk, compliance, management and consulting. Prior to his return to Asia from Europe in 2001, he worked in CSFB, CSFP, Credit Suisse Group and a start-up Swiss VC fund in London and Zurich. In Greater China, David was the financial services consulting partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte, Arthur Andersen and AT Kearney including a focus on operational risk compliance and Financial Institutions Group (‘FIG’) strategy. He has been researching the subject of compliance, operational risk and rogue behaviour in financial services since mid 1990’s. David received three degrees and a postgraduate diploma from Queen’s University of Belfast and University of Ulster including an MBA that focused on finance and derivative trading.

Bruce Li
Canyon Capital Advisors

Bruce Li is the general manager and managing director of Canyon Partners China. Canyon Partners is a leading global alternative asset manager which was established in 1990, with over $24 billion under management and offices in Los Angeles (headquarter), New York, London, Shanghai and Tokyo. Bruce is a member of the board at several non-profit organisations, including Wharton Club of Shanghai and China Hedge Fund Association. He serves as a distinguished expert of CFA China-Shanghai Think Tank and a China chapter executive of CAIA Association. He serves as contributing writer of Tencent Financial Think Tank and Tsinghua Financial Review. Bruce received his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and completed the Senior Executive Education Program from Harvard Business School. He is a CFA charterholder, CAIA charterholder, and FRM charterholder.

Kenny Li
Zenith Investments

Kenny Li is a founding partner of Zenith Investments. Zenith Investments is a China FOHF that focuses primarily on quantitative investment funds. Previously, he was founder and CEO at KKM Capital Shanghai where he started the Hedge Fund Initiative with Shanghai Hedge. From January until June 2009 Kenny was head of APAC convertibles and equity derivatives distribution at Barclays Capital HK, where he built an Asia & Japan Equity Derivatives & Asia Convertibles department From June 2001 to May 2006 Kenny was head of APAC convertbles distribution at Credit Suisse First Boston HK. Before this, Kenny was a pioneer in Asia high yield and distressed debt portfolio reconstruction for several renowned Funds at JP Morgan Chase HK. Previously, he worked at Credit Lyonnais HK. Kenny has a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Imperial College.

Yang Ling
StarRock Investment Management

Ling Yang is the general manager and chief strategist of StarRock Investment Management. She has 13 years of experience in fund management companies. Yang has worked at Lion Fund Management Beijing Branch, ICBC Credit Suisse Fund Management and Industrial Fund Management.

Qing Wang
Shanghai Chongyang Investment Management

Qing Wang is president of Shanghai Chongyang Investment Management. Chongyang Investment is one of the largest hedge funds in China with AUM over $3 billion. Before joining Chongyang Investment in April 2013, he was managing director and deputy head of investment banking department at CICC from 2011 until 2013. Qing joined CICC from Morgan Stanley, where he was managing director and chief economist for Greater China during 2007 until 2011. His economics team at Morgan Stanley was ranked No. 1 by Institutional Investor for two consecutive years in 2010 and 2011. Prior to that, Qing spent six years as an economist with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Qi Song
Genertec Investment Managers

Qi Song has served as chief executive officer of Genertec Investment Managers (GIM) since 2004. He has been working in the wealth management business for more than 20 years. Under his leadership, GIM has established a broad product spectrum for institutional and private investors, including stock, bond, mutual fund, and alternative assets. Through appropriate asset allocation, he helped GIM’s clients to achieve sustainable investment return each of the past 20 years.

Ralph P.J. van Put
Capital True Partner

Ralph van Put is the CEO of Capital True Partner Advisor and manager of the True Partner Fund. He is also an adjunct professor of finance at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). For the last 10 years Ralph was the CEO of a market making and proprietary trading firm active in the global financial markets. Before this, he started his own investment fund. Besides asset management Ralph set up a trading software development company in 1995. This firm has been providing technology evolving with the market from floor-based solutions to co-located HFT setups. He has been active in finance since the late 1980's, having started his career as a quantitative analyst at the Pacific Investment Research Institute. Besides his position at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, he lectures as an adjunct professor of financial practice at the National Taiwan University (NTU) in Taipei.

Fred Tian
Winton Capital Asia Limited

Fred Tian is head of China business development at Winton Capital Asia. Fred joined in Winton in 2010 and was appointed head of China business development in 2011. Before moving back to Asia, Fred worked in the banking industry in New York from 2004 to 2010, where he structured credit products in the structured products groups of Goldman Sachs and also led the team at IDC to advise institutions on asset-backed securities. Fred is a CFA charterholder and has an MA degree from the Fudan University in China and an MBA degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the US.

Brenda Tse
China Alpha Fund Management

Brenda Tse is the managing partner and head of business development of China Alpha Fund Management (HK) Ltd. She has over 18 years of experience in the financial industry including over 13 years of experience in the hedge fund industry. Prior to China Alpha Fund Management, Brenda was the managing director and the head of Greater China, Permal (HK) Ltd. Her responsibilities included leading a team to develop business initiatives and implementation strategy to financial intermediaries and institutional clients in Hong Kong, Taiwan and China. She was with Pioneer Investments where she was in charge of business development in Greater China. Brenda holds a Master degree in Quantitative Finance and Bachelor degree in Social Science from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Andy Huan WANG
Rosefinch Global

Andy Huan Wang serves as chairman of the board and is chief risk officer of Rosefinch Global. Before joining Rosefinch, he worked at China International Capital Corporation Ltd from 2002 to 2009 as a vice president in the sales and trading Department. From 1997 to 2000, Andy was a vice general manager of HK Super Power International Finance & Investment Co., Ltd., managing proprietary trading in HK/China markets as well as import/export business in steel and silicon metal. Prior to that, he worked at Hainan Shenhai (Group) Corp. as a manager in the futures department from 1995 to 1997, and the vice manager in the futures department of Shaanxi Minerals & Metals Import & Export Co., Ltd from 1993 to 1995. Andy holds an MBA from CEIBS and a Bachelor Degree in Economics from China Northwest University.

Wy-En Yap
APS Asset Management

Yap Wy-En, CFA, is vice president (investments) at APS Asset Management, a Singaporean boutique founded in 1995 with close to $4 billion AUM. Based in Shanghai, he is the firm’s A-Share strategist and banking sector analyst. Prior to joining APS, Wy-En was an assistant director in the monetary and domestic markets management department, responsible for implementing monetary policy, at the Monetary Authority of Singapore. Wy-En has an MBA from Tsinghua University and graduated magna cum laude from New York University with a double major in Economics and Politics.

Joseph Zeng
Greenwoods Asset Management

Joseph Zeng is a partner overseeing the Hong Kong office of Greenwoods Asset Management, one of the largest and earliest China-based investment managers. With track records since 2004, Greenwoods specialises in managing equity investments into China companies listed in Hong Kong, China, and the US, based on fundamentals research combining top-down and bottom up analysis. Greenwoods’ flagship fund, Golden China Fund, delivered a compound annualized net return of 28.4% per annum from July 2004 to July 2015, vs 10.3% of the MSCI China USD Index. Greenwoods manages investments for investors around the world, including sovereign wealth funds, pensions, endowments, insurers, and families. Before joining Greenwoods, Joseph worked as an investment banker at JP Morgan. Joseph previously studied at the London School of Economics (LSE), the Graduate School of People’s Bank of China, and Wuhan University, respectively.

Roslyn Zhang
China Investment Corporation

Roslyn Zhang is managing director of the department of fixed income and absolute return investments at China Investment Corporation, where she heads the hedge fund investment team. Prior to joining CIC in January 2009, Roslyn spent one year in a fund of hedge funds in New York. Before that she worked in endowment funds in North America for three years. Roslyn started her career in 2000 with Manulife Financial as a senior analyst in Toronto. In 2013, she was named in the ‘50 Leading Women in Hedge Funds’ by Hedge Fund Journal. Roslyn holds a BA in Economics from the Central University of Finance and Economy in Beijing China and an MBA from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

Jing (Joe) Zhou
Fortune SG Fund Management

Joe Zhou currently is the head of International business at Fortune SG Fund Management, in charge of cross-border investment and business development for the whole company. Joe has more than 10 years of experience in research and investment in both China and US. He worked in Asian-Tex Services (USA), Fortune SGAM Fund Management and TransPacific Securities (USA). Before joining Fortune SG in June 2011, Joe was working at Global Central Bank Group in HSBC Securities (USA) and providing trading strategies and portfolio management advice to central banks across the world. He is a CFA charter holder and also holds FRM, CMA and CFM certifications. Joe received his Ph.D. in Economics from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan and MBA degree from Columbia Business School in New York.
